If you live in Wyoming, Montana, or Colorado, you have seen the amount of moisture we have received this year to our local streams and rivers. An abnormal year producing over 300% average snowpack has made for a summer of landslides and flood dangers across all three states. In Cheyenne, Wyoming, about 2 hours north from us at Prime Trailer Leasing, There were more than a dozen landslides and washouts causing all kinds of road and building damage as well as causing injuries, inconveniences, and in some cases, fatalities.
The damage total is expected to total over 19 million. The biggest tragedy was the number of landslides and washouts that happened in places that have never happened before. This will create a bigger mess for the next 5 to 10 years as the corrosion is still in effect as the water flows fluctuate from season to season.
In addition, the Niobrara Oil Boom, is even taking a hit due to traffic issues, lane and highway closures and other major annoyances that have slowed the growth and production on this shale oil boom location.
It’s clear that this is an unfortunate set of events that have taken place this year in Wyoming. We all hope that the following years will be more peaceful and that the DOT can protect and sustain the road in Wyoming to ensure its growth over the next few years as it is critical to the oil rush happening in the state.
